EMI HARUKUSA

Emi Harukusa

Emi Harukusa (Tokyo, Japan 1978) is an artist who works mainly with paint. Emi graduated in Japanese Painting at Joshibi University of Art and Design in 2002 and lived in Italy from 2016 to 2017. During this period she carried out an internship at the Migliore+Servetto Architects studio in Milan, where she studied architectural design. The stay in the historical and artistic Italian cities inspired her, expanding the scope of the landscapes she creates.

Emi has held numerous solo and group exhibitions and has won several art awards; it is also active in the production of wall paintings, in the binding of books and in the design of duvet covers.

Her landscapes are intimate places of deep connection with her affections where memories and fantasies converge and aggregate, restoring interior scenarios full of melancholy and, together, of hope that cross time and space. Emi Harukusa uses the traditional techniques of Japanese painting and ukiyo-e to create delicate landscapes, imbued with a fluid ether that combines everyday elements with fantastic motifs.
